• Medal of Honor Nomination

  • Purpose The Medal of honor Award is to be considered the highest honor AIA Iowa can bestow on its members. It shall be awarded to those who have dedicated a significant portion of their career in service to the profession of architecture and played a role in shaping the profession as well as the Chapter.

    Eligiblity Requirements
    • AIA Iowa Member.
    • Must be nominated.
    • Nominations should recognize a significant portion (20 year minimum) of exemplary practice.
    • Nominee must demonstrate significant contribution in at least 2 of 3 aspects of the profession including Design Accomplishments, Impact on the Profession, and Community Leadership
    • Nominee shall be widely known and respected by those who practice architecture, by those who teach architecture, and by those who perhaps do neither.
    • Prior nominations will not affect eligibility.

    Jury Reviewed and awarded by the AIA Iowa Board of Directors

    Recognition Annual AIA Iowa Fall Convention, Design Awards Celebration.

    Fee None.

     

    2022 Submission Deadline: July 7, 2022

     

     

  • Submitted electronically as a single PDF, maximum file size 10MB

    • Nomination letter from sponsor.
    • A one-page biography of the nominee.
    • A one-page summary of the nominee’s design accomplishments, design accolades, awards, and honors.
    • A one-page statement describing the nominee’s lasting impact on the future of the architectural profession and professional society.
    • A one-page statement demonstrating how the nominee has advanced the profession of architecture through community leadership thus making the community a better place to live.
    • A minimum of three (3) and not to exceed five (5) total letters of reference by those who know the quality of the nominee’s work, one (1) letter from an AIA Fellow and one (1) letter by a Past AIA Iowa Medal of Honor recipient; letter authors should be explicit in their recommendation and contain specific reasons for support.
    • Other supporting materials, not to exceed five (5) pages (media coverage, articles, work examples, etc.)
