Most churches budget for their various ministries—from the nursery to senior saints. However, many overlook the important area of budgeting for the advanced biblical training of those called to ministry. With this in mind, Appalachian Bible College has established the Matching Scholarship.
ABC encourages churches, Christian camps, and mission agencies to support those in their ministry family whom they identify as worthy candidates for advanced Bible and ministry training. Through the Matching Scholarship, ABC will match up to $2,500 in an academic year what a ministry invests in its ABC student. That’s a potential $5,000 help to the student! For more information regarding this scholarship, contact financialaid@abc.edu or 800.678.9222.
Guidelines
- ABC will match up to $2,500/per academic year what a ministry invests to train their ABC student.
- The church, camp, or mission board must officially endorse the student through a formal decision of the leadership or membership, affirming that the student is a worthy investment for ministry training because he/she demonstrates a love and obedience to God’s Word and is actively serving the Lord.
- The ministry must not use this program:
1. to pass money to the student, from the student’s parents or relatives that would normally assist in the student's debt.
2. to replace promised wages or promise the scholarship in place of wages.
- The ministry is encouraged to submit the scholarship form below by September 30th for the Fall semester, or January 15th for the Spring semester so that students will know how to plan their payments, but these dates are not deadlines to participate.
- The student must meet all of the general institutional aid requirements to be eligible for the scholarship, including:
1. Student must be full-time, undergraduate.
2. Student must maintain satisfactory academic progress.
Terms & Conditions
- Funds (both the ministry's portion and the ABC match) will be disbursed to the student's account as funds are received from the ministry.
- The ministry may provide additional funds beyond the matched amount, but ABC will only match up to $2,500 per academic year ($1,250 per semester attended).
- If the student loses eligibility for the Matching Scholarship in the middle of the year (because of grades or academic status), the ministry will be notified to determine if they wish to make any changes to the scholarship amount. ABC will not match any amount given for a semester in which the student does not meet the eligibility requirements.
- If the student withdraws from ABC early, a portion of financial aid may be reduced according to the school's withdrawal policy, which would include ABC's matched portion of the Matching Scholarship. If this were to occur, the ministry will be notified to determine if they wish to reduce the amount of their portion of the scholarship.
