Thank you for your interest in our Training Program and for your desire to serve women of color and their families. We offer scholarships and worktrades to help cover the cost of training for women who otherwise would not be able to take the training.
Must be at least 18 years old
Be a Woman of Color
Household income under $25,000 (income verification required)
Be available for training dates, including orientation
Live in the area of the training.
Be available to work 10 hour per week at our DC location or other designated replication site for the designated timeframe for your training program
Have demonstrated an interest in serving teens, lower income women, and their families.
Priority will be given to individuals with limited economic resources and those those who live in communities where a greater need exists for women of color doula
Bilingual Birthworkers, particularly Spanish, French, Arabic and Amharic speaking applicants are encouraged to apply.
Scholarship recipients are committed to participating in the training at a greatly reduced fee in exchange for working a specified amount of hours with Mamatoto Village. If unforeseen circumstances arise and a recipient is unable to completely fulfill this commitment, you agree to repay the work-study scholarship amount at a prorated amount based on the number of hours worked. Mamatoto Village's training programs is reliant upon work-study scholarship recipients fulfilling their hours or repaying the cost of their scholarship so that we can continue the scholarship program.
Before filling out his application, consider the commitment! You will be required to pay the materials fee. The work-study scholarship is valued at $500-$1100 for PHW training
