• Application to rescue animals from the Jackson County Animal Shelter in Cottageville, WV or Animal Rights Fur-Ever in Ripley WV

  • ABOUT US: We have transport assistance to northeastern states and are licensed to send dogs to rescues based in Pennsylvania. If you are south of the MD/PA border or west of WV, alternate transport arrangements will need to be worked out. For rescues in northeastern states, we work with a shelter/rescue/transport network that moves dogs from shelters in WV, KY & OH to rescues throughout the northeastern states.  If your application is approved, the coordinator can give you access to this network, which will also give you the ability to pull from more shelters within the network.

The network uses a group site to communicate between the shelters and rescues. Approved rescues who have the ability to check email regularly are welcome to join this group. It is not a Facebook group, so you must use email to join. The shelters post their dogs/cats in need to the rescues via this group site.

This network can also offer assistance with home visits throughout the northeast via the rescues and drivers in our network. An independent volunteer screener reviews/processes the application and checks the references and then sends it back to the shelter's rescue team. She does work a full-time day job so this process can take several days to (rarely) a week to complete depending on how quickly your references respond to her. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

  • If your application is approved, do you want to join the network's email group and become part of the online community? You will receive shelter pleas for help as well as group discussions on various rescue-related topics.*

  • We realize this is a lengthy application, but it covers all of the questions our various shelters and transport coordinators have asked of rescues over the years. Once approved, the app can be provided to any shelter in our network upon request should you decide you want to pull from them. This saves you a lot of redundancy in submitting rescue applications to work with our shelters. Most will accept our application as is, but some will want to do a bit of additional screening. It is our attempt to streamline the application/screening process for both our rescues and shelters. At this time we have over 20 shelters in the network.  Thanks for taking the time to complete the application.
