GODPARENTS

The Church requires that there be at least one godparent (sponsor) who is baptized, confirmed, and in good standing with the Catholic Church. In addition, the family may also designate a second person to stand with the parents of the child on the day of baptism. If this person meets the above criteria, then both godparents are listed as sponsors of the child. If this second person is baptized, but either not Catholic or not confirmed, then s/he can stand as an official witness. It is customary that when two Catholic sponsors are named, one must be male and the other female.

BAPTISMAL DATE, PREPARATION, AND CLERGY

We are Currently only scheduling Single Family Baptisms. We will start to schedule Community Celebrations of Baptisms in 2022 as health and safety guidelines indicate it is possible to do so.

To schedule a Single Family Baptism (which involves a $300 fee), please indicate the requested date, and contact Don Crean at (415) 422-6520. Together you can decide on a date that works for your family and the Church calendar.

If you wish to have a visiting member of the clergy officiate at the baptism, please indicate his name and contact information below. It is assumed that you have already obtained his consent.

Parents and godparents are required to participate in a baptismal preparation reflection seminar if they have not done so within the last five years. Baptism reflections seminars are currently offered on the Third Thursday of every month from 7:30 pm-8:30 PM via zoom. Please contact Don Crean at 415-422-6520 to have the zoom info sent to you.
