Graduate Division is pleased to announce the availability of Earle C. Anthony Graduate Student Travel Awards for graduate students in the biological, physical, agricultural, engineering, mathematics, and health sciences and interdisciplinary approaches to these fields.
Awards: The Earle C. Anthony awards will be made in amounts up to a maximum of $2000. Eligible graduate students can apply for funds to support travel to present research at a top tier national or international meeting of a major scientific society or specialized conference (i.e., a Gordon Conference). Students must be currently enrolled, in good academic standing, advanced to candidacy, and typically no more than one year past normative time by completion of their degree. Students can receive this award only once. Eligible graduate students must be the first author on and be the presenter of the research submitted to the meeting/conference.
Students will be reimbursed after travel has been completed. In order to be reimbursed the student must complete the ECA Travel Expense Report within 14 days of the conclusion of the trip (or within 5 business days of the award notification if travel occurred prior to the application deadline). If the student is also requesting reimbursement from the GSA, all original documentation must be submitted to the GSA within 3 business days and only copies are to be submitted to the Graduate Division. Travel awards may be used for reasonable transportation costs, registration fees, and the University per diem.
Students may apply for these travel awards prior to receiving an acknowledgement that their work has been accepted for presentation but must then demonstrate that their work was presented as stated in their application. Students may also apply for these awards after their travel is completed but must do so by the next application deadline following their travel. The awards may only be used for travel to the conference/meeting as indicated in the application.
The deadlines for the 2024/2025 academic year are: October 16th by 5pm and April 16th by 5pm. Applicants will be notified about the status of their grant application approximately one month after the deadline. Please note that funding availability in subsequent quarters depends upon awards made earlier in the year, so students are advised to apply for funding as soon as the need arises.
