Academic All-State Recognition
All registered team members with a cumulative, non-weighted GPA of 3.500 or higher will be recognized as Academic All-State. Students with a perfect 4.000 GPA will receive special recognition.
Academic Team Champion Award
The Academic Team Champion Award will be presented to the team with the highest overall team GPA.
To be eligible:
- Every dancer listed on the official team roster must be included in the calculation.
- A GPA must be submitted for every team member, regardless of the student’s individual GPA.
- Teams may not exclude alternates, injured dancers, non-competing dancers, or other registered team members.
- The team GPA will be calculated by adding the GPAs of all registered team members and dividing the total by the number of team members.
- GPAs must be non-weighted and reported on a 4.000 scale, with up to three decimal places.
- OSDTDA will calculate the official team average to ensure all teams are evaluated consistently.
Formula:
Total of all submitted GPAs ÷ Total number of registered team members = Overall Team GPA
Tie-Breaking Procedure
If two or more teams have the same overall GPA when rounded to three decimal places, ties will be broken in this order:
- Highest percentage of team members with a 4.000 GPA
- Highest percentage of team members with a 3.500 GPA or higher
- If a tie remains, the teams will be named co-champions
GPA Reporting Period
For students in grades 10–12, the cumulative GPA should include all completed coursework beginning with the first semester of ninth grade through the end of the Spring 2026 semester.
For students entering grades 6–9, use the student’s final cumulative GPA from the 2025–2026 school year.
Do not include grades from the current 2026–2027 school year.
Roster Requirement
Teams must register every team member who:
- Will perform with the team;
- Will submit a scholarship application; or
- Will attend the State Championship with the team, even if the student will not compete.
- Alternates, managers, injured dancers, and non-competing team members may not receive Academic All-State recognition, apply for scholarships, or enter the competition at no charge unless they are officially registered and the applicable team-member fee has been paid.
Submission Procedure
Submit the full roster and non-weighted GPA for every registered team member. GPAs may be reported to three decimal places—for example, 3.457.
