This is calculated by determining the portion of your roof (LxW) that is draining to the downspout(s) connected to your barrels. Not sure? No problem! Just answer the two previous downspout questions and we'll help calculate this for you.

Do you usually drain your rain barrel between rain events?
Rain barrels and cisterns reduce the amount of stormwater runoff flowing into our streams by storing the water until it can be released later onto unsaturated ground. In order to obtain the full benefit of this BMP, rain barrels should be regularly drained before the next rain event.

Send us a snapshot or two of the BMPs you installed—this can be a landscape shot, a picture of the kids next to the tree you planted, before/during/after installation pictures, or creative group photos taken while planting or installing your BMP. (We will not share your photos without your permission.)

If you are able to use a smartphone to take pictures, we encourage you to enable location services and turn on location tagging in the camera app's settings prior to taking the pictures of your BMPs. This will attach a geocode to your picture that will help us correctly link the photo with your report.
