To qualify for the Smart Business Award, an individual member* or organizational subscriber must have made an innovation or meaningful contribution to the improvement of their profession and the efficiency of school districts, based on the following criteria:

Outstanding practices and ideas that result in significant contributions to school entities or the profession of school business management.
Program or innovation has been developed and successfully implemented by California school business professional(s) employed at a local education agency (commercial businesses are not eligible).
Program or innovation has made a statewide impact or has the potential to make an impact on the business practices of other school districts around the state

*For purposes of the awards nomination process, an “individual member” is a current Organizational Subscriber Employee Member, Honorary Life Member or Retiree Member. Associate Members are not eligible for this award.
