DePaul K9 Academy Waiver & Policies

General Policy
Safe Environment Commitment: DePaul K9 Academy will strive to create a safe environment for the training and boarding of your dog and provide responsible training, care, and post-training guidance.
Owner’s Acknowledgement of Unpredictability:The Owner acknowledges that animals may exhibit unpredictable behavior. DePaul K9 Academy is not liable for actions by the dog that occur outside its control.
Training and Owner’s Role:Recommendations from DePaul K9 Academy regarding any product or service do not guarantee performance or satisfaction. The Owner agrees that consistency in training at home is crucial for reinforcing learned behaviors. Without ongoing practice and owner behavior adjustments, the dog may revert to old habits.
Indemnity Clause:DePaul K9 Academy agrees to indemnify and hold the Owner harmless from injury, costs, or damages due to gross negligence or willful misconduct by DePaul K9 Academy while the dog is under its sole care.
Training Tools Agreement:The Owner understands and consents to using specific training tools and techniques, which may include but are not limited to leash, prong collar, bark collar, remote training collar, slip lead, Pet Convincer, muzzle, flat buckle collar, gentle lead, and martingale collar.

Payment and Cancellation Policy

Payment Policy: Payment of 50% to be paid at time of booking your board and train program. Balance due when drop off dog.

1.If we have scheduled you for a one, two or three week board and train and you fail to notify us within 2 weeks of your scheduled board and train NO REFUNDS are issued. We work by appointment only. If there is an unforseen circumstance a partial refund may be refunded at the discretion of the trainer.(Cancellation Fee $75.00)

2. If the client chooses NOT to continue training after receiving approximately 50% of services, a refund WILL NOT be issued. If the trainer feels that the client will not listen to training advice, observes any harm given to the dog or will not follow instructions, Depaul K9 Academy can at sole discretion, choose to cancel the training contract and a partial refund will be discussed according to which program you were enrolled in.

Private Lesson Cancellations: Cancellations within 24 hours of a private lesson incur a $190 consultation fee. For canceled sessions, no refunds will be given, but sessions may be rescheduled for future convenience. In cases of unexpected circumstances, partial refunds may be considered at the trainer's discretion.

Discontinuation of Services: If the client decides to discontinue training after approximately 50% of services are rendered, no refund will be issued. If DePaul K9 Academy deems that the client fails to follow training guidance, causes harm to the dog, or is non-compliant, the academy reserves the right to cancel the contract. In this case, a partial refund may be discussed depended upon the selected program.

Agreement to Hold Harmless, Waiver, and Assumption of Risk
The Owner acknowledges that participation in dog obedience training may involve risk to themselves, family members, guests, and their dog. This includes potential injury from interactions with other dogs. A muzzle may be required for dogs with known aggression or bite history.

The Owner waives and releases Carol DePaul, DePaul K9 Academy, and all affiliated persons from any liability for injury or damage to the Owner or their dog due to actions of any dog. The Owner assumes all risks related to attendance at any training session or event at the academy.

In consideration of membership, the Owner indemnifies DePaul K9 Academy and affiliated persons from any claim arising from actions of any dog, including their own, within training grounds and surrounding areas.

Photo/Video Release
The Owner grants DePaul K9 Academy permission to use photographs, video, audio, and any media representations of the Owner and their dog(s) taken during training or boarding. The Owner waives rights to compensation for the use of such media.
