Wisconsin Agricultural and Life Sciences Alumni Association (WALSAA) Student Impact Grants are available to CALS student organizations. Continuing the tradition of the innovation grants that began in 2012, the impact grant program focuses on supporting student organization events and programs that will impact student life or the surrounding community.
WALSAA has awarded more than $40,000 over the last five years, with the support of matching funds from the University of Wisconsin’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
The WALSAA Scholarship Committee will oversee the selection process. WALSAA is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that supports the connection of students, faculty and alumni to the college.
Applications for WALSAA Student Impact grants are accepted on a rolling basis, however, March 1 and October 1 are target deadlines. All applications will be considered regardless of date submitted. WALSAA Student Impact Grant recipients must be present and provide a report at a WALSAA Event to receive their award.
Funding Criteria/Acceptable uses include, but are not limited to, outreach events, professional development opportunities (including conferences, conclaves, meetings, judging events, quiz bowls, etc.), member recruitment initiatives etc. Other uses will be considered – please explain on the application. Successful applications will fully explain the impact they will have on current members, prospective members or the community.
Student organizations should be registered through CALS Academic Affairs and may be eligible for “matching funds” from the College. Organizations receiving funds through this program are required to submit a summary report following the event or program.
Please email the WALSAA Administrative Coordinator at admin@walsaa.org with any questions.
