Program Format

• Practice 1 day per week – Improving and Learning Volleyball Skills
• Fast paced games on Saturdays:
  
  • Players – 4 players per side during games
    • 3rd & 4th Grade League (limit 32 players)
    • 5th & 6th Grade League (limit 32 players)
    • 7th & 8th Grade League (limit 32 players)
    • High School League (limit 32 players)
  • Smaller Court – 25 ft. wide and 25 ft deep
  • Short Games – 10 minutes
  • More Games – 4-6 games every Saturday
  • Games – Teams face a new opponent team every game.
  • Player Rotation - Independent players form new teams each game
  • Scorekeeping –Tracking player wins, not the score of the game
  • Referee – Games are monitored by a referee
  • Coaches – Coaching before and after games (not during play)

This game format is designed to increase the number of ball touches and to improve the skills of each player.  The 4 X 4 format also teaches players to work together, become better teammates, have fun, and to truly enjoy the “Game of Volleyball”.

We will email you about practice times, and the weekly game schedules will be posted on the Portland Parks & Recreation Volleyball Site by Thursday of Each week.

PP&R 4 x 4 Team Agreement

Players / Parents / Coaches / PDX)))VB

Objective:

To provide a positive experience for all players, parents & coaches.
To further develop volleyball skills for players and turn them into well-rounded players.

To maximize the playing time and experience of all the players.

To have high energy practices and play in games on Saturday’s.

To provide an affordable experience for boys and girls to play volleyball.

Team Rules:

All players, parents, coaches, and directors remain positive and supportive of each other.

Discuss concerns of players, parents, coaches and directors at the earliest opportunity.

Parents need to save comments for coaches until the end of practice and/or the end of matches.

Player agrees to pay all fees as outlined below.

Player agrees to be at practice on-time each week and ready to practice at specified practice times.

Player agrees to be at matches on-time and ready to play at specified times.

Player agrees to notify the coach in advance of absence or tardiness.
(minimum 24 hours for practice and 48 hours for matches)

No jewelry of any kind can be worn during practice or matches.

Player Conduct:

Players will behave themselves at all times according to the rules of the game.

It is not acceptable for any player, team, coach, director, or spectator to display any form of unsportsmanlike conduct such as: vulgar language, disrespect or deceit.

Unsportsmanlike conduct may be penalized.

Team Uniform:

PDXVB agrees to provide a t-shirt with logo and a unique number for all players.

Coaches:

Coaches agree to be at all practices and games, or have another coach, assistant coach or representative at the games or practice.

Fees:

$125.00 Volleyball fee collected by PDX)))VB.
