The 1893 Brand Studio: Traditional storytelling strategies from The Daily Tar Heel combined with modern marketing techniques. This media services agency will provide compelling stories, videos, photos and social media content to community organizations and businesses.
The Daily Tar Heel has traditionally provided two ways for students to learn on the job: through production of a daily newspaper and ad sales. In 2015, we added Southern Neighbor, which allows students to write and produce a monthly magazine for full-time residents of our region. Now, we have the 1893 Brand Studio.
We are seeking talented creators to join one of four teams:
Storytelling: This team is focused on writing-based work centered around telling the stories of our clients in effective ways.
Campaigns: This team is focused on marketing strategies in order to enhance a brand. This work includes social media management, event management and audience research.
Design/Web Development: This team works on small and large web development projects as well as graphic design for our clients, from logos to marketing materials.
Multimedia: This team is dedicated to providing professional-level visual work to clients, including candid and portrait photography and video.
Why join 1893 Brand Studio?
We are a student-powered agency that works to combine traditional storytelling with modern marketing strategies.
Students who join the agency will build and refine their storytelling skills across media and platforms, while also learning how to work for a client, take direction and produce excellent work on deadline. We organize campaigns for clients, build websites, design logos, coordinate events, and provide photography and video services for clients.
Students are paid by assignment following a brief training period.
If you're looking for real-world client experience and leadership opportunities, apply to the Studio!
