• Facilitated MOPA tour
  • MOPA Tour Request Form

Please fully complete this form; it is a required step for scheduling a group or class visit. You can expect a response, via email, within three business days. Submission of a tour request does not guarantee a tour. Space is limited and we are not able to meet all requests.
  • Self-directed tours give your group the opportunity to experience the exhibitions at your own pace. Free with advanced reservations.

Facilitated tours provide a more structured experience than self-directed tours. MOPA’s gallery education staff will facilitate a discussion about the images on display that teach visual literacy skills. $65/tour or FREE for K-12 school groups (up to 30 students)

If you have a group larger than 30, please contact us at tour@mopa.org for special formats and pricing.

Additional information and tour fees can be found here.

  • Tell us about your school or organization...

  • MOPA offers a limited number of scholarships each year to support Title 1  teachers and schools that wish to bring their students to the Museum. These scholarships would reimburse bus costs. To request a scholarship, submit a Scholarship Request Form in addition to this form.

  • On display now through October 15, 2023 is the exhibit "The Water Holds Me, Photographs by Suda House". This exhibit contains mild female nudity.

  • Tell us more about your group...

  • Due to gallery size, no more than 30 tour participants are permitted in the gallery at a time.

Groups with more than 30 people will have the option of scheduling multiple tours. There are many sights to see in Balboa Park and we encourage you to enjoy the Park before or after your tour.

  • We require one adult chaperon (over the age of 18) per every fifteen students entering the Museum. Chaperones and teachers must stay with the group for the duration of their visit.

For elementary school groups, we recommend bringing one chaperon per every ten students.

  • Tour participants will be standing or walking for approximately 45 minutes. There is some seating throughout the galleries that members of your group are welcome to use. By request, there is additional lightweight, portable seating available for use during your visit.

  • You indicated that you would like to bring more than 30 people.

Due to the size of our galleries, groups larger than 30 people must be split into multiple tour groups. Please let us know your scheduling preferences.

There are several gardens and cultural institutions within Balboa Park to occupy those who are waiting.

  • How would you like to split up your group?

  • TOUR DATES

Tours are limited and submitting a tour request does not guarantee that you will get your first choice. Tours must be scheduled three weeks in advance.
