In 2018, the ASP Board of Directors decided to honor Board Member Gordon Myers’ contributions to the ASP by naming the Amateur Achievement Award after him. Gordon has been instrumental in steering the Society over the past decade and it is a suitable honor for his dedication.

The Gordon Myers Amateur Achievement Award recognizes significant observational or technological contributions to astronomy or amateur astronomy by an individual not employed in the field of astronomy in a professional capacity. The award is given bi-annually.

Make sure you have read the complete Guidelines from the ASP Website based on the specific award for which you are submitting.

When you indicate a list of supporters, you will need to inform the supporters of the deadline and you are now responsible for uploading their letters of support at the time you submit your nomination.

Letters of Support from others familiar with the nominee's accomplishments are essential in the nomination process. A resume or CV is not required but highly recommended.

Please indicate the names and e-mail addresses of at least two persons you have requested to provide support letters.

Nominators are now responsible for submitting all letters of support as well as the CV.

All Myers nominations will be considered for three consecutive award cycles — the year in which the nomination is made and the two following years. After the third year a completely new nomination of the individual may be submitted.
