FIRST PLACE WINNER: "Death at a Diner" by Felita Daniels
Synopsis: The “Passing Thru” Diner caters to the Appalachian Trail "thru" hikers that come off the trails bringing strangers together from all walks of life. Most of the Townspeople appreciate the good food, good service, and the regular influx of business the hikers bring with them. It’s the perfect little town diner. Except, perfect doesn’t exist, and there’s a darkness under every plate.
SECOND PLACE WINNER: "With Her Apron High" by Mark Anderson
Synopsis: Intergenerational differences threaten to destroy a mother’s relationship with her daughter. Can Glenda step out from the preconceptions formed by the shadow of her painful past? Is it too late for her to learn to accept that not all differences are bad? Some are just-different. This play explores the complex dynamics of an increasingly “non-traditional” family.
