At American Sentinel, we understand that faculty (full-time and adjunct) are key to student success as they have central responsibility for achieving our mission. All faculty, whether full-time or adjunct, are essential members of the University community.
The Faculty of the Year Award will be given in recognition of the recipient’s teaching excellence as evidenced by meeting the University expectations and their ability to inspire students in the classroom. Faculty of the Year nominees should exhibit the following characteristics:
- Provides excellent instruction
- Evaluates students fairly on the basis of their academic performance
- Encourages free and open discussion, inquiry, and expression
- Upholds principles of academic integrity
- Actively participates in the course by posting to engender debate and reflection
- Responds to questions in a timely manner
- Evaluates and grades course assessments within 96 hours of due date
- Provides quality feedback to students that enable the student to understand areas for improvement
