The Carson Gardena Dominguez Rotary Club will sponsor several students to move on to the final round of the competition.
The finalists will be selected by volunteer judges at the preliminary round.

- Speech Topic: Doing Good in the World (Rotary Foundation Motto)
As a contestant, you should structure a speech that explains, promotes, or clarifies how this theme is a
a positive solution to life’s challenges. You may choose a challenge within the nation, state, community,
school, family, or a personal challenge and apply Doing Good in the World as the message of the
speech.
Official Rules:
1. Speech must be an original work, 4 to 6 minutes in length, composed by the contestant. Speakers will be
given timing cards at 4 min., 5 min. and 6 min., and will be disqualified if they speak longer than 6 minutes 30
seconds. Quotes may be used but should be no more than 10% of the speech.
2. Speech must not be read or delivered from notes. One 3”x5” note card will be allowed.
3. Contestant must be currently enrolled in high school or of high school age.
