Challenge Assumptions, Inspire Change and Reimagine the future
  • Tacoma Community College’s Continuing Education department is thrilled to announce the 12th Annual Write in the Harbor regional writers conference. The event will take place November 6–7, 2026, in beautiful Gig Harbor, Washington’s Maritime City. We anticipate welcoming a diverse community of aspiring writers, established authors, and industry professionals.

The Write in the Harbor Writers Conference has become a highly anticipated gathering in the writing community. It offers writers the opportunity to connect with fellow creatives, learn from experienced professionals, and develop their craft in a supportive environment.

We are currently accepting proposals for workshops and panels supporting this year’s theme, “Shaping the Narrative.” We especially encourage proposals that explore theme as an aspect of writing. We hope to feature presenters as diverse as our attendees and community.

    An ideal presenter or panelist:

    ·         Is knowledgeable in their chosen topic

    ·         Actively engages adult learners in a workshop setting

    ·         Demonstrates cultural responsiveness in both content and presentation style

    ·         Has experience in the craft and/or business of writing

Workshops are scheduled in 60‑minute blocks. Presenters are compensated $150 per workshop. Panels are limited to four participants, and panelists receive $50 each.

The submission deadline is May 16, 2026. Please include:

    ·         A detailed proposal

    ·         An outline of your workshop

    ·         Your current CV

Conference staff will review all submissions. Notification of acceptance or refusal will be sent by the end of June.
