"The purpose of the meeting was to address communication challenges and trust concerns impacting the agency. Dr. Doss is a highly skilled facilitator whose active listening approach supported participants through a process which allowed helpful catharsis and the identification of several issues that lead to miscommunication. What was most helpful was Dr. Doss' non-judgmental approach that facilitated the identification of the grieving process regarding the impending shut-down of the agency. This allowed the staff to offer their input on the real possibility of ending the process of service provision.
Dr. Doss exhibited a deliberate willingness to explore the realm of acceptable/realistic possibilities and helped to moderate the anxiety and apprehension of the staff. Even the way he had the room set up (circle that allowed for a more equitable conversation) helped to move toward reconcilation and away from the drudgery of accusation and the avoidance of accountability.
