Lower Stony Class 2/3 Downriver Race

Registration: 5:30-6:15 PM; Start at 6:30 PM     Cost: $20/person
Participants will be part of the Headwaters Racing Series

This is a downriver sprint race covering 3.5 miles of pool drop whitewater (Class II+ - Class III). The put-in is at Carpenter’s Park which is the normal takeout for the Stonycreek Canyon run with the finish line at Greenhouse park at the beach on river left after the playpark wave. The race will be divided into categories based upon the type of boats entered into the race and the number of participants. We will typically have classes for SUPs, long and short kayaks, solo and tandem open boats. Any length boat is allowed to enter and we reserve the right to group different types of boats should there not be enough for a separate class.  Awards will be presented at Greenhouse Park about 1 hour after the last competitor crosses the finish line. Note: due to liability issues, if the Ferndale gauge is 5 feet or over the race will be cancelled.

I (MY CHILD) REALIZE DANGER EXISTS IN ANY PARTICIPATION IN THE SPORT OF CANOEING/KAYAKING Although I am in good health and able to participate in canoeing/kayaking activities I realize that participation in canoeing/kayaking may result in illness or injury due to accidents, the forces of nature, or other causes not foreseeable. Such illness and injury may include but is not limited to disease, strains, sprains, fractures, dislocations, paralysis, or death. I am fully aware of the risk and dangers associated with hypothermia and its causes. I understand that possible injuries may cause serious and permanent disability. By my or my child’s participation in canoeing/kayaking I or I for my child and my child hereby knowingly assume the risks arising out of participating in canoeing/kayaking. I am aware of the hazards of flatwater and whitewater canoeing/kayaking. Such hazards include, but are not limited to: strainers, undercuts, reversals, frigid water, pins, broaches, entrapments, and high water. I and my child are aware of the means by which to avoid such hazards, and I am confident of my and my child’s ability to do so. I am aware that even a skillful and prudent paddler can experience emergencies, and that these emergencies can severely tax the resources and capabilities of paddler and equipment alike. Therefore, I on behalf of myself or my child, my personal representatives, and my heirs, hereby agree to release, hold harmless, and indemnify the Benscreek Canoe Club and its agents, officers, volunteers from any and all claims and suits for bodily injury, property damage, wrongful death, loss of services or otherwise which may arise out of my participation in canoeing/kayaking, whether or not such claims or suits arise from negligent acts by Tussey Mt. Outfitters Inc., its agents, officers, employees, volunteers, another participant, or any other person or from any other cause. THE RISKS I AM ABOUT TO TAKE OR MY CHILD IS ABOUT TO TAKE HAVE BEEN DULY CONSIDERED, AND NO ONE OTHER THAN MYSELF CAN BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR MY OR MY CHILD’S SAFETY. I HAVE READ THE ABOVE WAIVER AND RELEASE (OR EXPLAINED THE ABOVE WAIVER AND RELEASE TO MY CHILD). I UNDERSTAND THAT I HAVE GIVEN UP SUBSTANTIAL RIGHTS BY SIGNING IT, AND I SIGN IT VOLUNTARILY.
