  • The 3rd annual Rollo Bay Music Camp is a three-day event built to accompany one of Prince Edward Island's most enduring traditions - the Rollo Bay Fiddle Festival. World class instructors will teach a variety of traditional styles of fiddle, guitar, tenor banjo, piano, flute, whistle, dance, accordian, bodhran and songwriting. On the final night of the camp, students have the option of enjoying a concert (and employ their dance skills) by mixing with the local community at the Thursday Night Ceilidh.

    Hosted at the Rollo Bay Fiddle Festival grounds, the Rollo Bay Music Camp's relaxed and friendly atmosphere allows students to choose a level of immersion in instruction alongside the opportunity to jam with their instructors on break or at the end of the day, and of course to enjoy the beautiful landscape of Eastern Prince Edward Island.

  • COURSE DETAILS

     

    Classes run Tuesday, July 10 to Thursday, July 12. We have options for:

    1) Full Time Student

    2) Children's Fiddle Program

    3) Tuesday Only Student

    * Full Time Student: A full time student at Rollo Bay Music Camp entitles you to all 4 classes (including squaredance workshop) every day.

    * The Childrens Fiddle Program: This program will start at 1pm with a square dance and continue with the two afternoon classes. If you have a child under 10 that has been playing for a number of years and would be better off in an adult beginner or intermediate class, please contact bigfieldtraditions@gmail.com. All children in this program must have a guardian on site for the afternoon. 

     * Tuesday Only: We understand that you may not be able to attend the camp every day so we're opening Tuesday as a one day option. We're not offering Wednesday or Thursday as one day options because the classes learn as a group - therefore, a brand new student on Wed or Thur would not work for the other students or instructors.  

    Here is our 'draft' schedule. Note that it may change slightly before the camp begins. Quick morning gatherings will happen each day so everyone is comfortable about what to expect each day :)

    Period 1: 9am-10:15am

    30 minute break

    Period 2: 10:45-11:45

    75 minute lunch

    Square Dance Workshop: 1pm-2pm (this is when children's fiddle program starts as well)

    Period 3: 2pm-3pm 

    30 minute break

    Period 4: 3:30pm-4:15pm

        • ACCOMMODATION:

          There are a limited number of serviced camping sites, as well as unserviced camping sites, with basic amenities (toilets and showers) available at the Rollo Bay Fiddle Grounds. Serviced sites will be $60 (total amount for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday night). Unserviced sites will be $25 (total amount for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday night).

          We will accept payment upon arrival. Please click an option below, we'd like to have an idea of how many students plan on staying on site. 

          If you are not camping on site then we recommend checking out local accommodations in Rollo Bay and the surrounding area. 

          If you are staying on site and want to get settled anytime after 6pm on Monday (July 9), that's ok with us!

        • MEALS

          We will have food (breakfast, lunch) available for purchase at the camp grounds. Once again, please select an option below so we have an idea of how much food to prepare. Andrew and Jane sure know how to prep fresh, organic, healthy meals :) 

          We will accept payment upon arrival (this won't be charged to your credit card right now).
