Fall 2016-Spring 2017 Sophomore Year Experience/Leadership Without Limits Application
Applications cannot be saved once they are started, so please allow yourself enough time to complete the entire application at one time. You can move forwards and backwards among the pages.

APPLICATION DEADLINE: Sunday, April 17, at 11:59 PM

Students that apply for either program will be notified of the status of their application by Monday, April 25th.

Locations for both programs will be chosen at a later date. Past locations have included: Jamaica, Italy, South Korea, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Greece, England, & others. More details will be provided at the group meeting after acceptance. Both travel opportunities are no academic credit.

Program Descriptions:

The Sophomore Year Experience (SYE) is an opportunity for students to use the skills learned in their freshman year to implement change that will enhance their local and global community by taking critical thinking to the next level--investigation. SYE is a program facilitated by Residential Living & Learning (RLL) at Texas A&M University-Commerce. Students that participate in SYE are required to live on campus in the residence halls.

If selected for the Sophomore Year Experience, there will be a mandatory group meeting on Friday, April 29th, from 1 PM-2:30 PM. Those selected will be notified of the meeting place.

Leadership Without Limits (LWL) is a unique global opportunity for undergraduate students in their third year and above. Students will develop an understanding of leadership in a global context that will enhance their interactions with diverse individuals abroad, at Texas A&M University-Commerce, and in their future endeavors. Students will be challenged to examine their own perspectives by learning from each other and the culture that they will visit. LWL is a program facilitated by Leadership Engagement & Development (L.E.A.D.) at Texas A&M University-Commerce. LWL meetings occur on Fridays from 12-2 during both the fall and spring semester--all accepted applicants must be able to meet at this time.

If selected for Leadership Without Limits, there will be a mandatory group meeting on Friday, April 29th, from 1 PM-2:30 PM. Those selected will be notified of the meeting place.

-Assist with fundraising opportunities for the trip

SYE students:

-Will attend a mandatory group meeting on Friday, April 29th, from 1 PM - 2:30 PM, if selected to participate

-Know they are required to live in the residents halls at Texas A&M University-Commerce

-Must provide a $300 payment toward the trip during the first week of classes in Fall 2016

-Must provide a second $300 payment toward the trip during the first week of classes in Spring 2017

LWL Students:

-Will attend a mandatory group meeting on Friday, April 29th, from 1 PM - 2:30 PM, if selected to participate

-Must be able and willing to meet every Friday during the fall and spring semester leading up to the trip from 12-2

-Must provide a $300 payment towards the trip during the first week of classes in Fall 2016

-Must provide a second $300 payment toward the trip during the first week of classes in Spring 2017
