The City of Torrance Sanitation Division offers curbside and alley collection service that includes refuse, recycling, and green waste recycling collection for homes with City service.

The fee charged for monthly service is tied only to the size of the refuse (black) container. Alley refuse collection rates will be the same as a 64 gallon refuse container. (Alley containers are 300 gallon shared refuse containers.)

Additional 64-gallon refuse containers can be added to an account. They are available at a discounted price and can be requested through this form. 

Residents can choose different sizes of recycling and green waste recycling containers and it will not affect their monthly rates. All containers are available in 64 gallon and 96 gallon sizes, except the recycling container is only in blue for 96 gallon size, and in grey in 64 gallon size.

Whenever a change in any container size is made, the container cannot be changed again for a minimum of six (6) months.

Once the request is made, after removing your containers from the curb on your pick up day, please leave the container to be changed out in a visible place that is easily accessible by our City crew such as near a gate or garage, but not in the back yard. Containers cannot be left at the curb more than 12 hours after pick up per Municipal Code.

Your container change day will coincide with your regular service pickup day.  Trash containers will be changed on on the same day as your trash pickup.  Recycling containers will be picked up on the same day that you receive recycling pickups.
