1. NIPPLE TO NIPPLE
*
Measure nipple to nipple. Keep the measuring tape taut and parallel to the ground.
2. UPPER BUST
*
Place the tape measure around the body above the bust. The tape should be snug under the arms. The tape should fit around the smallest circumference of the bust, so the tape may not necessarily be parallel to the floor.
3. MIDDLE BUST
*
Stand naturally with your heels together and hands by the sides of your body. Place the tape straight across the fullest part of the bust, and keep it parallel to the floor all the way around your body. We recommend not wearing a bra to take this measurement.
4. LOWER BUST
*
Place the tape around the body just under the bust around the rib cage, and keep the tape parallel to the floor all the way around.
5. SHOULDER TO NIPPLE
*
Place the tape on the top of the shoulder where the top of a bra strap would sit, and measure down to the center of the nipple.
6. SHOULDER LENGTH
*
Taken from the high point of the shoulder at the neck to the shoulder tip.
7. WAIST
*
Measure around your body at the natural waist. This is not where you button up your jeans, but rather the smallest part of your figure, above your belly button. If the waist is difficult to determine: while standing up straight, bend at the waist to one side. The crease that forms if where your natural waist is located; measure there. The smallest waist area is approximately 1 inch above your belly button.
8. NECK TO WAIST
*
Place the tape on the shoulder (right at the base of the neck), over the nipple, and straight down to the waist level.
9. HIPS
*
Standing with your feet together, measure around the fullest part of your hips. This is generally about 9 inches from the natural waistline. Position the tape around the fullest part of your butt.
10. SHOULDER TO SHOULDER, FRONT
*
Taken from the shoulder bone tip over the collarbone to the other shoulder tip.
11. SHOULDER TO SHOULDER, BACK
*
Relax your shoulders. Extend the tape measure from the shoulder bone tip of one shoulder to the shoulder bone tip of the other. To find the shoulder bone tip, rotate your arm up, the shoulder tip is where the bone connects to the socket and rotates.
12. ACROSS BACK
*
Let your arms hang naturally at your sides and stand with natural posture. Measure from armpit to armpit, across the back. Do not start the measurement in the armpit under the arms. Instead, take the measurement from where the arm attaches to your body.
13. BACK LENGTH
*
Measure from the base of the neck (in the center, not the side) to the center of the natural waistline on the back. You should measure from the center back portion of your neck, where a short chain necklace that settles comfortably around your neck would sit.
14. UPPER ARM
*
Relax your arm and measure around the largest part of the upper arm.
15. ARMSCYE
*
Wrap the tape over the top of your shoulder and around under your armpit.
16. SHOULDER TO ELBOW
*
Hang your arms naturally with a slight bend at the elbow. Measure from the shoulder tip to the elbow point.
17. ELBOW TO WRIST
*
Measure from the elbow point to your wrist bone.
18. WRIST
*
Wrap the measuring tape around your wrist like a sleeve and note the circumference.
19. HOLLOW TO HEM
*
This measurement determines the length of your dress in the front. Measure without shoes. Place the tape at the hollow (the concave center between your collarbones at the base of your neck). Measure down to where you want the hem. Keep in mind, if the skirt will be full, be sure to measure out follow the arc you'd prefer for the volume of your dress until the tape reaches the bottom of your preferred hemline.
20. YOUR HEIGHT
*
Measure without shoes and stand up straight.
21. HEEL HEIGHT
*
Measure the height of the heels you plan to wear with your dress. Make note of the platform height if any.
