APPLICATION PROCESS:
The Art Department is pleased to announce the continuation of the Carlene Ho Award for Excellence in the Arts, an exciting opportunity for our University of Oregon School of Art + Design students. The University of Oregon’s Ford Alumni Center and Art Department are collaborating on this art exhibition opportunity.
Any student who is an Art or Art & Technology major (undergraduate or graduate) is eligible to submit work to this biannual art competition and exhibition. There will be cash award of $500 for artistic excellence given to the chosen artist in exhange for exhibiting the chosen artwork in the Ford Alumni Center for a period of roughly six months.
All forms of art are welcome and encouraged, although please keep in mind the space is primarily used as conference room and the display surface is a wall. Two-dimensional pieces are highly prefered, which might include but is not limited to: paintings, drawings, prints, mixed media works, photography, and wall mounted sculptures. Other alternative possibilities that can be contained on a wall will also be considered. Video on monitors and Projections can't be accomodated at this time given the mixed use and abundant natural light of this space.
The wall area for artwork is approximately 40 x40 inches.
The award is named after Carlene Ho, an art major and student associate at the Alumni Association who passed away during her junior year at the University of Oregon. Her creativity and enthusiasm continue to inspire all her many friends and colleagues.
