Note: Once a request is submitted, the start and end dates cannot be changed. if USCIS does not finish processing your request before your selected start date, you will not be able to work until you receive your employment authorization document (EAD). Also, if your EAD arrives after your selected start date, any time between these dates counts against your 12 months of OPT.

Failure to report your information could result in the automatic termination of your I-20 SEVIS record by the Student & Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) without warning. If your I-20 SEVIS record is terminated while you are still in the U.S., you may begin to accrue days of unlawful presence. *
