PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SOFT SKILLS RUBRIC
Purpose: To promote and teach employable skills needed to succeed beyond high school and throughout working careers. The skills being targeted are; punctuality, preparedness, time management, and behavior/attitude. A student will begin each semester with a grade of 125 points and this will account for 25% of a student’s total semester grade. Time Management is worth 40% of the rubric grade while punctuality, preparedness, and attitude combined are worth 60% of the rubric grade. Points will be deducted based on the rubric standards set forth below.
Punctuality = 25 Point Value I am on time to class every day = 25 points I have been late to class 1 time = instructor will counsel student I have been late to class 2 times = 10 points deducted and instructor will counsel student I have been late to class 3 times = 15 points deducted and instructor will contact parent I have been late to class 4 times = Referral to Assistant Director, Discipline Referral to Serving School
Preparedness = 25 Point Value I bring required tools, materials, and assignments to class every day = 25 points I did not bring required tools, materials, and assignments 1 time = instructor will counsel student I did not bring required tools, materials, and assignments a second time = 10 points deducted and instructor will counsel student I did not bring required tools, materials, and assignments a third time = 15 points deducted and instructor will counsel student Upon a 4th infraction, the instructor will make a parent contact to discuss this issue. Time Management = 50 Point Value I always use class/lab/shop/clinical time to complete assigned work and attend class as scheduled = 50 points I did not use my time management efficiently and/or have not attended as scheduled 1 time = instructor will counsel student I did not use my time management efficiently a second time and/or have not attended as scheduled = 25 points deducted and instructor will counsel student I did not use my time management efficiently a third time and/or have not attended as scheduled = 25 points deducted and instructor will counsel student Upon a 4th infraction, the instructor will make a parent contact to discuss this issue. Work Place Attitude/Behavior = 25 Point Value I always have a positive attitude, follow directives, meet teacher expectation, and comply with class rules = 25 points I did not have a positive attitude, follow directives, meet teacher expectation, and/or comply with class rules 1 time = instructor will counsel student I did not have a positive attitude, follow directives, meet teacher expectation, and/or comply with class rules a 2nd time = 10 points deducted I did not have a positive attitude, follow directives, meet teacher expectation, and/or comply with class rules a 3rd time = 15 points deducted and instructor will counsel student Upon a 4th infraction, the instructor will make a parent contact to discuss this issue.
