• Checking your scoreboard and timing displays (10 min)

  • 1. Visually inspect the front of the scoreboard for any physical damage such as bent digits, excessive dust and dirt buildup, corrosion or water intrusion. If a wireless signal is used between the display and the controller, check for broken or missing antennas.

  • 2. Turn on power to the scoreboard and watch for the Power-On-Self-Test (POST), which lasts for about 5 seconds. LEDs will turn on across the scoreboard, and then go blank.

    If the signal between display and controller is wireless, capture the radio settings. The scoreboard will indicate current settings at end of POST sequence, showing broadcast (b) number and channel (c) number.

  • 3. If applicable, turn on the power to any Delay of Game clocks. Watch for and verify the POST.

  • Checking your scoring (All Sport) console (30 min)

  • 1. At your console location, verify that all signal cables are firmly plugged into rear of the console and at all wall junction boxes. If the signal is wireless, verify that the antenna is secure and vertical.

  • 2. Power on the console.

    If the signal to your display is wireless, verify that the radio settings of the console match the settings displayed when you powered up the scoreboard. The Broadcast and Channel settings will display at the end of Power-On-Self-Test (POST) sequence of the console.

  • If the console does not power up after trying different power outlets, create a new service case in your MySupport Account to report the issue.

  • 3. Conduct an "All On" test to confirm that no LEDs are out.

  • If there are LEDs out, note the location of the LED (down digit, left home score digit, etc.) in a new service case in your MySupport Account.

  • 4. Exit the "All On" test mode by entering your sport code for your sport.

  • Find the correct sport code for your AllSport console.

  • 5. Simulate all stages of a game. Verify menu options for functions such as start/stop for clock, score buttons, horn, etc.

  • Refer to your appropriate All Sport manual for standard operation of your system.

  • Checking your video displays (30 min)

  • 1. With the video display turned off, visually check for any modules (squares) not properly attached. You may see the edge of a module protruding away from the display face.

  • Use your T-handle or 1/8” Allen wrench to tighten the module, following these instructions.

  • 2. If the back of the display is visible, verify that the back sheets and access panels are properly attached and secured.

    Inspect for signs of damage, corrosion or water intrusion.

  • 3. Power on the video display, and visually check for any pixels/LEDs that are stuck on.

  • Checking your video software (Show Control) and controllers (30 min)

  • 1. In your control room, verify that control rack components and desktop equipment (i.e. monitors, keyboard, mouse, announcer's mic console, etc.) are secure and cables are in good condition and properly connected.

    Wipe down components to remove dirt and dust buildup, especially computers with front fans.

  • 2. Start up your system by following existing startup procedure for your video display and control system.

  • Create a new service case in your MySupport Account to request assistance with any startup issues.

  • 3. Check for windows update and run virus sweep on your controller PC. Do not complete this immediately prior to or during an event.

  • 4. Check for Show Control updates by calling our technical help desk at 1-800-325-8766. If an update is available for your system, they will walk you through the update process.

  • 5. Play full screen content. Visually inspect the display for any of the following: blank modules or sections, blank pixels/LEDs, discolored modules or sections, or any other visual problems (i.e. flickering).

  • 6. If applicable, display content from incoming video feeds TriCaster feed, direct camera feed).

  • 8. Test existing content by clicking the available buttons in Display Studio.

  • 9. Review previous season's content and remove files, buttons and pages that will no longer be used.

  • Delete buttons in the container in Display Studio.

  • 10. Back up the content folder to an external drive and back up the Nucleus database.

  • 11. Shut down your system by following existing shut down procedure for your video display and control system.

  • Checking your audio system (15 min)

  • 1. Visually inspect all sides of outdoor sound cabinet for any damage, loose panes/doors and any tears or excess fading on the front mesh cover.

  • 2. Power on the audio control rack in the control room, and then power on outdoor sound cabinet.

  • 3. Set the audio input gain appropriately for each channel/input for optimal audio quality.

  • 4. If equipped, verify that the fiber conversion box (may have digital/analog switch) has power and is set to "Digital".

  • If switching to "digital" results in no audio through speakers, you could have a bad fiber connection.

  • 5. Test audio from all sources (i.e. microphones, laptops, phones, MP3 player, audio from display computers, etc.). Test the mics in their actual location for accurate game simulation.

  • If you are receiving unwanted system noises, view this troubleshooting video.
    Troubleshoot issues specific to wireless microphones.

  • 6. Verify that your wireless microphone transmitters are charged and batteries are not corroded.

  • Replace batteries if necessary. If you need to order replacement wireless microphone transmitters, please create a new service case in your MySupport Account.

  • 7. If equipped, switch fiber conversion box to "Analog/Backup" mode, and unplug the power to the fiber conversion box. Test an audio source for playback.

    After testing, switch back to "Digital" and plug the power back in.

  • If switching to "analog" results in no audio through speakers. Check all connections between the audio system and fiber conversion box.

  • 8. Power off the outdoor sound cabinet, and then the sound rack in the control room.

  • 1. Verify that you have all recommended spare parts, such as extra display modules and power supplies, in one location and in working order. Use our Inventory Count Sheet to track your equipment. Suggested parts and tools:
