YOU ARE BEING ASKED TO VOLUNTEER TO PARTICIPATE IN A RESEARCH STUDY
This form provides you with the information about the study.
To help answer our research questions, you will be asked to provide information about your knowledge and skills related to STEM Education. The purpose of the study is to learn how elementary teachers conceptualize STEM Education and the integrative practices they use when teaching STEM content. The results of this study will better inform the design of elementary specific teacher professional development programs and elementary teacher education in STEM Education.
Participation
If you agree to be in this study, we will ask you to do the following things:
- Complete a lesson plan task in which you will create or modify a STEM lesson plan for a lesson you have taught. This task does not have any page limitation but I would like you to be as detailed as possible. You will get 7-10 days to complete it. If you feel you require more time or you are not able to complete it within that time frame, there will be an extension.
- Participate in a written survey to be completed and submitted at the same time as the lesson plan task.
- Participate in an interview (if selected) lasting roughly one hour. The interview will be scheduled according to your comfort and availability.
Benefits:
- Your participation in this research study will help in understanding the way in which elementary teachers conceptualize STEM education and how they integrate STEM content at the elementary level. The results of this study may be published which will inform the STEM Education community and professional developers. This would help them to develop and provide professional development opportunities specific to the unique needs of elementary teachers.
