RESPONSIBILITIES:
A. PUPIL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Pupils must be aware that they are responsible for their actions and behavior.
2. Pupils must know what the rules and procedures are and abide by them.
3. Pupils must display proper respect for the rights and comfort of the other riders.
4. Realize that school bus transportation is a privilege that can be denied if they do not conduct themselves properly.
B. PARENT RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Be familiar with transportation rules and procedures and be aware that they were established with the safety of your children in mind.
2. Encourage your children to abide by all rules and procedures and assist them in a positive manner to understand the reasons behind the rules.
3. Be aware that you are responsible for the actions of your children and that the ultimate responsibility for transportation of your children to and from school is your own.
4. To assist when asked, to cause change in their child’s behavior.
5. Acknowledge parental responsibility for damage to bus and/or equipment by their children.
C. BUS RIDER RULES
1. Pupil shall arrive at the bus stop at least (5) minutes before the bus is scheduled to arrive.
2. Wait in a safe place, clear of traffic, and away from where the bus stops.
3. When on the bus, follow all bus rules and keep the noise level low.
4. Cross the road or street in front of the bus under the direction of the driver.
5. Go directly to an available or assigned seat when entering the bus.
6. Remain seated. Keep aisles and exits clear.
7. Always obey the bus driver and/or aide if available.
8. The throwing and passing of objects on, from or into buses is prohibited.
9. Pupils are permitted to carry only objects that can be held on their laps.
10. The use of profane language, tobacco, alcohol, drugs is not permitted on the bus.
11. No eating on the bus, as this is a choking hazard. Water is permitted.
12. Hazardous materials and objects, nuisance items, and animals are not permitted on the bus.
13. Respect the rights and safety of others.
14. Leaving or boarding the bus at locations other than the assigned home stop or assigned school is not permitted.
15. Extending head, arms, or objects out of the bus windows is prohibited.
16. Physical contact with the bus exterior while it is in motion is prohibited.
17. Do not vandalize the bus. Parent/Guardians will be required to pay for any intentional damage your child does to the bus including seat damages of any kind. (Seat covers will be billed at $100.00 per seat.)
