About the Scholarship
The purpose of the Scott Weiss Scholarship is to provide T. Howard Foundation (THF) alumni currently enrolled in school with financial assistance for their academic and career pursuits. The scholarship is awarded on the basis of merit as defined by the Foundation, and is intended to help prepare recipients for a career in the media and entertainment industry.
Award amounts vary based on the type of award you are seeking:
Tuition, fees, textbooks/required supplies - up to $2,500
Media equipment - up to $1,000
Professional development conferences - up to $500
Note: receipts are required for all purchases made with award funds; funds may not be used for college room and board. For additional information, visit FAQs.

Eligibility and Evaluation
The scholarship is open to all alumni of the T. Howard Foundation summer internship program, regardless of their internship year. Alumni are eligible to receive a maximum of two awards from the Scott Weiss Scholarship.
be an alumnus of the THF summer internship program with a favorable evaluation from their Host Company supervisor
have a minimum GPA of 3.2 in their academic major,
be an undergraduate or graduate student currently enrolled at an accredited college or university
Scholarships are awarded on the basis of
academic merit (transcript) and internship performance (host company evaluation),
quality content and clear articulation in essays and resume, and
demonstrated pursuit of a career in the media and entertainment industry
Applicants submit the following items:
Completed Application Form and Application Materials, including
two 500-word essays
a one-page resume
an academic recommender's contact information (.edu email
Official transcript from the institution where currently enrolled. Graduate students are required to provide both an official undergraduate transcript and a graduate transcript, if available.
The Foundation has host company supervisor evaluations on file, so no action is required by the applicant.

1. Discuss how your interest in your field/major developed and describe your experiences in the field- such as volunteer work or internships- and what you gained from this involvement.
2. What do you think the media and entertainment industry will be like in the next 10 years?

postmarked and mailed no later than October 7, 2016

The Academic Recommendation Form will be emailed by the Foundation directly to your academic recommender within three (3) business days of receipt of your application. (A ".edu" email address is required.) Your academic recommender must complete your recommendation form within five (5) business days of receipt.
