  • REC CLUBS PROGRAM APPLICATION

  • Please note that not all Registered Student Organizations engaged in a sport activity are or can be recognized as members of the Rec Clubs Program. Inclusion in the program is dependent upon proven continued interest in the activity, capabilities for sustaining such interest in the university’s student community, and the ability of the Department of Recreation to meet the club’s needs via the Rec Clubs Program.  It should be noted that funding is not guaranteed and other avenues for funding may exist elsewhere.

Please submit the following application for review by the Department of Recreation, and the Rec Clubs office will follow up with student Club leadership.

Note: Clubs applying after the start of a new academic year will not be added to the program until the following Autumn Quarter, if approved.

  • Stipulations on joining the Rec Clubs Program:

    • All Rec Clubs must promote their UW student organization and not an off campus club, affiliation, and/or private or commercial entity.

    • Any newly recognized Rec Club will be a “Conditional Club” (Tier 4), with a one year probationary period.  At the end of this time, clubs will receive “Full Status,” providing they have completed all required forms, submitted waiver cards, followed all Rec Clubs guidelines, and have not been involved in any disciplinary sanctions.  Once a club is fully recognized, they may request basic funding.

    • The addition of a new club must not adversely impact the ongoing Sports and Fitness Program, the Intramural Program, the Rec Clubs Program, or the Open Recreational Program.

    • If desired facilities are not available to accommodate new groups, the club’s application will be returned until arrangements can be made.  Facility scheduling priority is given to existing programs.

    • UW Recreation strives to provide diversity within its programs and will not duplicate Club Programs already in existence.

    • Only currently enrolled UW students, faculty, and/or staff IMA members are permitted to participate in club activities.  Bothell/Tacoma branch campus students are only eligible with an IMA membership.
Alumni, UW Extension, and the general public are not eligible.
