The James River Association is a local nonprofit working to connect your family to the James River through safe and healthy neighborhoods, a "Walkable Watershed". As a part of this program, residents in the Fairview Heights neighborhood are eligible to receive a rain barrel and have it installed at their homes for free!
A rain barrel is 50-55 gallon barrel that is connected to your downspout and collects and stores rainwater from your rooftop. This water can be used to water gardens and lawns, wash cars, or other uses. Rain Barrels in Fairview Heights will reduce runoff pollution and improve the health of Fishing Creek. There is no obligation required to receive a free rain barrel.
Residents are also eligible to enter a drawing for a free native planting landscape done on their property.
