By May 15th of each year, this form should be submitted by the Chair of each Departmental Research Ethics Committees (DREC) to the STU REB for record-keeping.
St. Thomas University"s
states that if a study is a teaching exercise (i.e., part of an undergraduate course and/or Honour"s project), and entailing no more than minimal risk, it must be reviewed by the Departmental Research Ethics Committee on behalf of the REB and in compliance with the Tri-Council Policy Statement. The Department must report results of such reviews to the REB at the end of the academic year. Student research deemed to be beyond minimal risk must be reviewed by the REB.
The REB expects that all Departments adhere to the
Tri-Council Policy Statement on Research Ethics
in its review of research activities.
