The purpose of all events for the Deaf Cultural Month, which is spearheaded by the Museum of Deaf History, Arts & Culture, is to invite the GENERAL PUBLIC to CELEBRATE important Deaf people, their experiences, language, culture, arts and events in the history of Deaf America.
All events hosted or sponsored by any organization should provide cultural enriching activities/programs for the general public to enhance their knowledge of Deaf history, arts and culture.
Here are a couple of examples of appropriate Cultural Enriching events provided to the public:
Deaf Art Display/Exhibit in any Art/Museum Gallery
A theatrical production of Deaf Actors/Actresses at any Theatre Venue
ASL Poetry/Storytelling performances by Deaf people at Bookstores
A participating restaurant that would do a night of all Deaf servers utilizing ASL
A documentary film on anything about Deaf history, arts, and/or culture at a movie theatre
And many more. If you have a unique idea and not sure if it would fit with the purpose of the Deaf Cultural Month or have questions, just email to to Kanderson@museumofdeaf.org
DEADLINE to submit your Event to be a part of MDHAC's Deaf Cultural Month is August 30th, 2018.
