Welcome to the Children & Families Internship Application.
Be sure to click the "Save" button periodically, to save your work. You will be emailed a link to return to your application, should you need to finish later.
As part of the application process, you will be required to submit a single PDF file consisting of both your cover letter and resume. For resume tips and assistance, connect with the Career Development advisors in the UACDC offices: career_services@emich.edu.
The cover letter is an opportunity for you to introduce yourself to your potential cooperating teacher. The cover letter should be in a typical business letter format. You may wish to include information on what has drawn you into teaching, what experiences and education you have had that have formed who you are as a teacher, your philosophy on teaching, and the skills you have that will make you an excellent student teacher. You should address your cover letter generically, rather than to a specific individual, school, or district. An example cover letter is available here: https://tiny.emich.edu/CoverLetterSample.
Your resume is an opportunity for you to provide information on your academic and professional experiences to your prospective cooperating teacher. Your resume should include information on topics such as your academic history, professional work history, and experiences you have had with children and youth. You may wish to include information on recognitions such as scholarships or awards as well as include information on professional, volunteer, or student organizations you may be affiliated with. The resume should be well organized, easy to read, and free from grammatical and spelling errors. An educator job search guide, with resume writing tips, is available here: https://tiny.emich.edu/JobSearchHandbook.
