Thank you for your interest in hosting students through World Learning academic exchange programs, including the Global Undergraduate Exchange (Global UGRAD) Program, funded by the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Global UGRAD provides student leaders with scholarships to attend U.S. colleges and universities for a semester of undergraduate, non-degree study.
Host institution selection and placement are contingent upon renewal of funding by the U.S. Department of State.
Specific features of the Global UGRAD Program:
- U.S. Embassies or Fulbright Commissions abroad use rigorous application and interview processes to select a diverse group of participants.
- Students' programs are all one academic semester, but some students may come to the U.S. for English Language Training programs for one semester prior to the start of their academic semester.
- World Learning places these students, about 250 annually, at U.S. host institutions and monitors them for the duration of their program.
- World Learning manages all aspects of the students' J-1 immigration status, including issuing DS-2019s.
- Students enroll in courses in their field of study, U.S. Studies, and electives.
- Students are actively engaged in campus and community life and are required to participate in community service and cultural activities.
- Students live on campus with U.S. roommates and are enrolled in comprehensive meal plans.
