About the Business Awards:
The Business Awards, part of the Jackson Chamber’s Annual Celebration, are designed to promote and celebrate excellence in the business community. Awards will be given in the following categories:
Emerging Business of the Year
- 1 Award
Health and Wellness Award
- 1 Award
Non-Profit of the Year
- 1 Award
Industry of the Year
- 1 Award
Business of the Year Award 1-49 Employees
– 1 Award
Business of the Year Award 50+ Employees
– 1 Award
Companies will be judged on performance in the following categories:
Capital Improvements - 10 Possible Points
Job Creation/Job Retention - 10 Possible Points
Mission Statement, Goals and Objectives - 10 Possible Points
Environment/Conservation - 15 Possible Points
Human Relations - 15 Possible Points
Community Involvement - 10 Possible Points
Employee Satisfaction - 15 Possible Points
Applications will be judged by a panel familiar with the industrial business sector and challenges that industries are facing. The applications are not judged by employees of the Jackson Chamber. The decisions of the panel are final. All winners will be announced at the Annual Celebration on March 12, 2020.
All information submitted will be kept confidential.
• This application is for the Industry of the Year Award category. The Business of the Year Award (1-49 Employees), Business of the Year (50+ Employees), Emerging Business of the Year Award, Health and Wellness Award, and Non-Profit of the Year Award are separate.
• All applicants must be a member of the Jackson Chamber.
• Your company must have been in business for at least five years.
• Industry of the Year applicants must fall under an SIC or NAICS code that is defined as manufacturing or distribution.
• You may only apply for 1 award category per year.
• Winners may not reapply for the same award for 5 years.
• All applications must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on January 10, 2020. No extensions will be granted.
Information given in this application
should be reported for the 2018-2019 fiscal year.
All information will be kept strictly confidential
and entries will be deleted after the awards program.

Your company must have been in business for at least five years. Industry of the Year applicants must fall under an SIC or NAICS code that is defined as manufacturing or distribution.

you do not qualify for the Industry of the Year Award.

Briefly explain your product or service
Define the company's capital improvements by indicating the type and estimated total amount of the improvements. Briefly explain the all location of the new resources. (Both new and refurbished equipment as well as facility improvements such as energy efficiency measures should be included.) If your company has not had any additional capital expenditures, discuss how you better utilized your current equipment.
Job Creation/Job Retention
Indicate the number of new jobs created and the allocation of the new positions. Discuss the efforts of your company to retain your current workforce. If your company did not create new positions, please describe your efforts to retain your existing workforce to avoid reductions.

Mission Statement, Goals and Objectives
Discuss your company's mission, goals and business philosophy. Describe how you locally implement practices that reflect your corporate mission, goals, and business philosophy.
Define steps taken to improve solid waste management, air and water pollution, and conservation of resources, such as water conservation, recycling and energy conservation.
Describe your company’s involvement in community programs, projects and activities. Examples include civic and service clubs, school sponsorships, fundraising, internal fundraising and activities etc.
Quality and Productivity
Describe your company's efforts to improve quality and productivity. What has been the result of these efforts?
Describe how you encourage employee participation and input in your daily operations. What measures are taken to poll existing employee satisfaction and methods to address issues such as anonymous surveys, monthly listening lunches by management, suggestion boxes, etc.
