Funds are available to provide grants to existing churches in an approved metro area to plant a daughter church. The objective in the granting of these funds is for the daughter church to become a self-governing church within five years. North American Missions funds are not intended to be invested where the new plant will always be a daughter church.
IMPORTANT NOTES: The UPCI Manual requires any church receiving funds from North American Missions to be an affiliated church. This program does not have a consistent means of funding and grants are made as funds are available.
1. Amount of financial assistance available:
a. The Metro Mother Church can receive limited financial assistance for 12 months, with possible reconsideration for up to four additional years. Application is required for each additional year. Grant applications will be considered as funds are available.
b. The maximum allotment would be $4,000 per month ($48,000.00 per year). These funds will be released on a monthly basis. NAM requires a minimum of 25% of the anticipated budget be provided by the Mother Church.
c. The grant recipient (mother church pastor) must comply with the NAM reporting policy which requires grant recipients to provide a monthly report specific to the activities of the Metro Daughter Church.
2. Process for approval of Metro Daughter church applications:
a. Must have proper district approval for starting the new daughter church.
b. Metro Daughter Work Grant application must be completed in full and submitted to North American Missions. Upon receipt of the application it shall be presented to the following committee to review, make proper inquiries, and determine eligibility for funding: the North American Missions Executive Team, Metro Missions Coordinator, and applicable North American Missions Regional Director.
3. The applicant must participate in training as designated by the North American Missions Executive Team (NAMET). If the Metro Daughter Church has been assigned a pastor, it is required that they attend as well.
