  • 2017-18 KIPP School Leadership Programs Nominations

  • Thank you for nominating one of your leaders to apply for the KIPP School Leadership Programs (KSLP). This form is designed for managers to nominate their leaders for the Leadership Team program.

We are taking nominations for the following program:

Leadership Team program: A program for assistant principals new to their roles to develop the school-wide leadership and management skills needed to be effective members of the school leadership team.

If you are interested in your leader participating in one of the KIPP Foundation's other programs, please see the KIPP Foundation Program Guide (hosted on KIPP:Share) for nomination, application, and/or registration information.

If you are interested in your leader participating in one of the KIPP Foundation's other programs, please see the KIPP Foundation Program Guide (hosted on KIPP:Share) for the nomination, application, and/or registration information.

In an effort to streamline our application process and to ensure that nominees are matched to the KSLP program that best meets their developmental needs, we have created this online nomination form as the first step in a two-step application process. Once you complete the nomination form, the KSLP team will review the nomination form and then take one of two actions within three business days:

    1) If the nominee's prior experience and anticipated leadership role match the prerequisites for Leadership Team, a representative from the KSLP team will email the nominee with an application packet for that program and copy you on that email.

    2) If the nominee's prior experience and anticipated leadership role do not match the prerequisites for Leadership Team, a representative from the KSLP team will email you directly to have a conversation about which program would be the best fit for the nominee.

If you have any questions about the application process, please email kslp@kipp.org. Thank you for submitting a nomination; we appreciate your time and commitment to developing excellent leaders for our schools and regions.

Note:  If you need to go back to a former page, please do not use the back arrow on your browser; instead, use the back button at the bottom of the page.

  • The Leadership Team program is designed for assistant principals to grow in their school-wide leadership and management skills. As a member of the Leadership Team, assistant principals will learn how to take the school’s vision and translate it to action. During the year, participants will engage in courses and assignments to practice data-driven decision making processes, strengthen one’s self-awareness, develop their cultural competence as leaders for equity, and sharpen instructional leadership skills. As a member of the cohort, participants will develop their leadership identity, learn to navigate complex relationships within their school and region, and build lifelines with passionate and reflective leaders from across the country

  • Leadership Team is specifically designed for individuals who will be managing others and instructionally coaching.  Since this individual will not manage or coach anyone next year, s/he is not eligible for a Leadership Team nomination.  If you still feel strongly that this is the right program for your participant, please reach out to the Leadership Team program manager, Tina Snodgrass, at tsnodgrass@kipp.org

  • Leadership Team is a unique cohort experience and the contributions of each individual participant make a significant impact on the quality of learning for everyone.

    Participants will need to:
    • Complete coursework and virtual assignments in between sessions
    • Attend 100% of programming
    • Arrive the night before programming
    • Co-develop and utilize the AP Development Plan

Managers of LT participants will need to:
    • Provide time and opportunity to complete KSLP assignments
    • Co-develop and check in monthly with AP to discuss the AP Development Plan
    • Model, observe, and provide feedback to AP on instructional coaching meetings once a month

Leadership Team requires a significant time commitment on behalf of the participant as well as the school leader. Leaders have significant coursework requirements during sessions and in the time between sessions. Additionally, participants will miss school to travel to events and attend programming.
