    Yes! I support my colleagues in our efforts to build a strong union. I hereby become an associate member of the Temple University Graduate Students' Association for the below specified length of time, and I authorize TUGSA to be my exclusive representative for the purposes of collective bargaining with Temple University.

    I understand that this form also serves as a full-membership form. Meaning that, if/when I become covered by TUGSA's collective bargaining agreement (i.e. I receive a teaching assistantship or a non-DAB research assistantship), I will become a full dues-paying member. I also understand that my associate membership fee is non refundable after the term has expired even if I later become a full dues-paying member.

    I am aware that I may cancel my membership in the union at any time by sending a written notice to TUGSA but that my associate membership dues are non refundable, and my full-member dues authorization will remain in full force and effect until revoked by me in writing to both TUGSA and the Temple Labor Relations Office during the ten (10) business days preceding the expiration of a semester. For more information, I understand that I can contact union@tugsa.org to request instructions on terminating my membership.

  • Thank you for your interest in becoming an Associate Member! Please keep in mind that those who become associate members are usually:

    1. An individual who anticipates they will no longer have an assistantship during an upcoming semester or academic year.

    2. An individual who holds a position that is not a formal graduate assistantship such as a fellowship, an externship and/or some other graduate hourly paid position. 

    3. An individual who is an RA and has declared that they will receive direct academic benefit.

    4. An individual who will receive an assistantship in the future but does not expect to next semester.

    If you do expect to receive an assistantship next semester, or if you are currently a TA or a non-DAB RA, you are eligible to become a Full Member!         I, the undersigned, a member of TUGSA, authorize Temple University to deduct all dues payments authorized by the TUGSA Constitution and Bylaws from my pay and to remit the amount so deducted to TUGSA, while I am employed in a bargaining unit position.

        This authorization will remain in full force and effect until revoked by me, in writing. Such revocation must be a written notice sent to TUGSA and the Temple Labor Relations Office during the ten (10) business days preceding the expiration of a semester.

        As of June 1, 2004, the TUGSA Bylaws set dues at 1.65% of income from employment within the bargaining unit. Dues levels are established by the membership and are subject to change according to procedures defined in Article Thirteen of the TUGSA Constitution. Copies of the TUGSA Constitution and Bylaws are available at the TUGSA office or online at https://www.tugsa.org.

      • Your TUid number is your nine-digit university identification number (often beginning with a "9"). It is NOT your username/email (i.e. tux12345). You can find your TUid printed on your OWLcard (ID card). If you don't have your OWLcard, you can view it by heading to TUportal, going to the "Home" tab, then clicking the link on the left side that says "Get My TUid".
