As a church, we ask that anyone who is serving in a leadership or teaching position at Church on the Rock - Texarkana be a Christ-follower who is living a God-honoring lifestyle in agreement with Scripture. We ask that if you are serving in our church that you abide by our Standards and Expectations listed below.
Live a devoted life. You are entering into a position that people will be watching you to lead by example. You are now a representation of Church on the Rock. Commit to prayer daily and develop a genuine relationship with The Lord.
Abstain from using corrupt language. James 3:9-10 says, “With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be.” Always use your words to build people up. No gossip.
Do not watch Rated R movies. This is an exact model of how we can lead by example. We are called to live a life that is set apart from this world. We can not be different if we practice the same things they do.
"The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light.” Matthew 6:22
Refrain from any inappropriate relationship with the opposite sex. Your witness is not only the things you proclaim, but the actions that others see. Make sure that we are using our lives to bring glory to God. Do not put yourself in a compromising situation.
Respect and honor authority. God has given us a great leadership team at Church on the Rock. Our mission is to support their vision.
“Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God.”
Dress modestly. The bible says that your body is a temple. Use your clothing to encourage purity and devotion.
Be on time. Whether this is services or meetings, punctuality is important
Participate in events. We want students and guests to be encouraged to pursue unity and growth within our planned events.
Seek peace and pursue it. If there is ever a problem with you and someone else on this team, address the issue quickly, privately, and prayerfully. Be swift in restoring the relationship.
Be an active member. Attend weekend services at Church on the Rock. Be a member that participates in the life of COTR.
Model behavior. Demonstrate biblical standards. Commit to not do anything that could cause a student or guest to stumble or negatively affect their perception of Jesus.
Support leadership. Never be destructive of divisive. Protect leadership as well as represent the church in a positive way in public.
Build relationships. Pray for the students and guest you get to minister to each week. Encourage fellowship with other members.
Attend meetings. Be a person willing to give input and encouraging new ideas. Our team is always willing to accept new ways to effectively meet the needs of our guests.
Consistently communicate. Notify our team if you are unavailable to attend services as well as directing questions, concerns, or suggestions. Your attendance is very important to us.
Positive attitude. Have a great attitude regarding Next Generation Ministries.
Faithfully give. We believe that a giving church is a blessed one. Tithing is one of the most important aspects of worship.
