  • Region XII is offering grants for the virtual NAFSA Advocacy Day scheduled for March 18, with training on March 10, 2026. The deadline to register for Advocacy Day is January 26, 2026.

    Region XII Grant Application Deadlines: 

    Early Bird/Priority Deadline December 15, 2025 

    (awardees will be notified by the end of December, 2025)

    Final Deadline January 14, 2026

    (awardees notified on a rolling basis before the registration deadline)

     

  • Applicant Information

  • Eligibility

  • Applications will be reviewed for an individual’s financial need and professional development goals, as well as applicant’s commitment to giving back to Region XII.

    In order to be considered eligibile for a Region XII Advocacy Grant, applicants must:

    1. Reside or be employed in Region XII

    2. Register for and attend Advocacy Day. Applicants must participate in the entire program to receive grant funding.

    3. Demonstrate financial need. Download, fill and submit this financial worksheet.

  • Award

  • Costs will be reimbursed up to the limit of the grant to include the following reimbursable items:

    - Registration

    The following only apply when there is an in-person component:

    - Travel, limited to the most economic means of travel
    - Hotel, limited to reasonable rates
    - Meals (using federal per diem rates)
     

    If awarded, recipient may be required to participate in an Advocacy Day presentation at a future Region XII event.

  • Reimbursement

  • Recipient must submit the following in order to be reimbursed for expenses:
    - Reimbursement request form. The Region XII Treasurer will provide a link to the form upon awarding of the grant. 
    - Receipts for each item for which reimbursement is requested (scanned & uploaded with reimbursement form)

    This statement of objectives should highlight the nature of your professional or volunteer work in the field of international education, your reasons for attending Advocacy Day, and how your attendance will benefit your institution and the populations with whom you work. (1-2 pages maximum). If you are not currently employed, please describe how attendance will align with your future professional goals. Please describe how the grant will impact your ability to participate.

    Letter of Support

    Please request a letter of support from your supervisor. If not currently employed provide a professional reference. This letter should be 1-2 pages and address the following:

    1. Applicant's role and responsibilities in international education on the campus or in the applicant's institution/organization.

    2. The benefits applicant's institution/organization will receive through applicant's participation in Advocacy Day.

    3. Describe the unmet financial need.

    The Region XII Chair will notify award recipients via e-mail by: January 21, 2026 or sooner.
