A-Team and Racing Commission Application

For the 2026-27 Race Season
The Soap Box Derby Racing Commission is looking for NEW members for the 2026-27 racing season.

This application is for NEW members of the A-Team and Racing Commission. Current A-Team members wishing to remain on the A-Team do NOT need to re-apply.

Applications are due by May 31, 2026

Once the application process is completed and verified, elections will then be held by the racing commission in August 2026.

Duties of the A-Team and Racing Commission are as follows:

A. Participate in Championship Race Week activities in Akron, Ohio, in July.
B. Participate in monthly board meetings by telephone conference.
C. Accept responsibilities throughout the year that may be required to perform special functions pertaining to FirstEnergy All-American Soap Box Derby functions and rules.

This includes, but is not limited to:
- Rule books and plan modifications
- Wheel calibrations
- Design of kit parts and equipment
- Fielding and answering questions
- Design of various racing programs
- Learning the operations of the different aspects of Race Week
- Maintaining the integrity of the Racing Commission at all levels
- Helping to support the World’s Greatest Amateur Racing Program
Participation during Race Week is required by both A-Team & Racing Commission members. While A-Team members can participate in discussions, only Racing Commission members have voting rights. Membership in the A-Team for one year is required before applying to the Racing Commission. There is a limit of 3 missed meetings to retain voting rights for Commission Members.
