  • Please use this form to request leave for part of the school day such as (but not limited to) medical appointments. Routine dental and optician appointments should be arranged outside of school hours.

    Schools must treat absence as authorised when it is due to religious observance. The day must be exclusively set apart for religious observance by the religious body to which the parents belong. Where necessary, we will seek advice from the relevant religious body about whether it has set the day apart for religious observance..

    Regular attendance is an important factor in your child’s performance at school.  Please think carefully before deciding to request leave of absence.  Please note that leave of absence is not a right.  The Head may only grant leave of absence in exceptional circumstances.

  • If collecting your son/daughter from school or returning them to school after an engagement, please specify the times below. Please note students are expected to wait at reception for collection and must sign out. On return, students go straight to their lesson unless during break, lunch or assembly  where they must sign in.

    Evidence of any appointment should be available to the school if requested.

  • Usually, we will only grant leave to attend services for immediate relatives (Grandparents, Parents and siblings).  

  • Religious Observance

  • A day’s leave of absence for religious observance may be requested for a day when the pupils’ parents would be expected by the religious body to which they belong to stay away from employment in order to mark the occasion.

    Parents are not entitled to take their children out of school to attend religious festivals which religious bodies mark without expecting families to take time off work or school.

  • I/We understand that if leave is agreed:

    • If travelling abroad, I / we will supply a copy of the return travel documentation.
    • I/ we will supply the name and phone number of a contact whilst abroad.
    • If I/ we do not return a the agreed time; I/ we am/are aware that I/ we may be issued with a penalty notice. If I do not pay the fine, the case may be referred to Court which could result in a fine up to £1000 per child and a criminal record.
    • In exceptional circumstances penalty notices may be issued and cases may be taken straight to Court.
