**Composer Track Please see the musicminsitryalive.com website for a full description of this track.
Those interested in applying for this track must submit two liturgical compositions. The first must be a liturgical setting of Psalm 19. The form should be refrain, verse, etc., like you would experience during liturgy. The second piece can be either a liturgical composition of your choosing or a setting of the Adam Tice text that has also been included here. Appropriate song choices would be a gathering song, psalm, communion song or song for sending forth.
Upload completed and clear musical scores along with mp3 versions of all compositions. See the "Audition Guidelines - Making Music Files" page on the website for instructions. Your scores must include melody line, text, and piano and/or guitar lead sheets with chords. Choral harmonies would be helpful, but are not required. Do be sure to include copyright information with each of your scores. If you have any questions about this, please do not hesitate to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Youth Track Essays
Instructions: If you have previously attended MMA, be aware that the required essay questions change from year to year. These questions are an essential part of the application process as they help the admissions committee, team, and staff get to know a bit more about you, so sending responses from previous MMA years will not serve anyone well. It is important that you spend some good time reflecting to develop and fully answer the questions. There are three questions for all participants and one additional question for first, second and third year applicants. Please fill out all that apply to you.
Each student must submit a recommendation letter from someone who knows your musical and ministerial gifts. This letter should be written by your music director, pastor, music teacher, or youth minister. Letters from friends or parents will not be accepted.
Please label the file upload as follows: Last Name, First Initial, R Letter
Example: Smith, J. R Letter
Audition Music Files
Your musical audition is an important part of the application process and provides MMA with information needed to decide your acceptance, choral placement, and musical assignments. Everyone is required to submit audition music files containing the appropriate tracks. You will need to go the the "Audition Guidelines" page of this website to download the appropriate mp3 music files, sheet music, and instructions for creating music files.
This yearʻs song choices for auditions are "Lord, You Give the Great Commission" Jeffery Rowthorn and Cyril V. Taylor, and Psalm 18/19 "Words of Everlasting Life/Palabras de Vida Eterna" by Tony Alonso. You may download the mp3 and sheet music files for these songs with permission for the sole purpose of completing your audition. When you complete your audition files, please destroy both the mp3 and sheet music files for these songs.
There are also Vocal Placement Exercises that need to be downloaded. They will help to determine or confirm choral placement and the vocal part you will be singing.
Read the following Instructions carefully as they apply to you.
For information on how to create your music files, please see "Audition Guidelines - Making Music Files" page of the website.
Vocalists/Cantors: You will be singing two vocal exercises for voice placement. There are placement mp3s for men and women. You should only sing as high and low as is comfortable. You will also be singing BOTH "Lord, You Give the Great Commission" and "Words of Everlasting Life/Palabras de Vida Eterna" for your audition. The mp3 downloads include instructions and a spoken "count in" for ease of use. Please download the PDF versions of these songs for your reference.
IMPORTANT: Consider including additional tracks to highlight your gifts, such as a classical piece or art song, or songs from languages other than English.
SOLOS for our big "Festival Sing" are selected based upon what we hear in your audition tracks, so be sure to offer us a good sampling.
Please be sure to upload files with correct file names.
Example: Smith, J. Voc 1
Vocalists/Cantors Who Also Play Instruments: Please follow the instructions above and also include a short piece showcasing your skills on each of the instruments you listed ealier in this application. You can play a solo piece or follow the instrumental instructions for instrumentalists below. Be sure to label your files properly and keep them short so the files will not be too large to upload.
Example: Smith, J. Clarinet Option 1
Instrumentalists: It would be extremely helpful for all instrumentalists to include either the vocal exercises or a vocal version of one of the two audition songs. Additionally, you will be playing both "Lord, You Give the Great Commission" and Psalm 18/19 "Words of Everlasting Life/Palabras de Vida Eterna." Please go to the "Audition Guidelines" page to download the PDF versions of the instrumental part you should play from. We want this to be as user friendly as possible, so either play the melody line of the obbigato part if it has been included.
Pianists: If you are a pianist, download the piano score from the "Audition Guidelines" page and play the introduction, verses and refrains of each of the two pieces.
Guitarists: You should play your guitar along with the downloadable mp3 accompaniment file for "Words of Everlasting Life/Palabras de..." only. You do not have to submit an audition of "Lord, You Give the Great Commission."
Example: Smith, J. Trumpet TS
Instrumentalists Who Play Multiple Instruments: Please follow the instructions above and upload files. Additionally, you can also include a short piece highlighting your gifts on each instrument you listed on this application.
Example: Smith, J. Violin Option 1
Composers: Please follow the instructions above as they apply to you, and also include audio versions of your compositions as instructed in the "Composer Track" section of this application.
