The FOSTER agrees with PAWS that they will keep the animal(s) in question until the above animal(s) is/are adopted into their permanent home, or until it is told to PAWS by the FOSTER that the assignment cannot be completed. PAWS asks that the Foster Home Caretaker (“FOSTER”) gives PAWS the courtesy of 7 days in which to find a suitable foster home to transfer said fosters if the assignment cannot be completed by the original foster.
The assigned Foster Home Coordinator must be notified in advance before medical care/treatment is approved unless it is an emergency situation, and in that case the FOSTER will pay for the treatment if they are able in advance and be reimbursed by PAWS Ohio. All medical expenses, and how much, will be a decision that PAWS and PAWS alone will make.
Only if requested, PAWS will agree to reimburse foster home care providers for food or litter. PAWS will not in any case reimburse fully if premium foods or premium litters are being used that have not been preapproved. Monthly expenses will be the same for each foster home care provider if being reimbursed, but those decisions will be made as indicated above.
PAWS does not reimburse for damages in the home accrued due to the animals being fostered. This includes any medical bills due to a bite or attack on your person(s) or your owned pet(s) occurring while a foster dog or cat is in your care and custody. PAWS cannot and will not be responsible if a dog or cat bites you, or if someone else is bit if you have assumed physical custody of the foster animal. The FOSTER assumes ALL LIABILITY within your foster home for any injuries sustained by any animal in the custody and control of the FOSTER, and absolves PAWS for any such liability, without restriction. PAWS Ohio carries insurance for coverage of events outside the foster home.
By signing the contract, you the FOSTER agree to absolve PAWS and all of its representatives from any liability in reference to your foster animal. All dogs will be assessed prior to being placed in your home, but you must assume responsibility and set the dog up for success, not failure. Supervision is the key to success. Please note that if a PAWS animal is given freedom to run through a foster caretaker’s home it is at your risk as PAWS cannot and will not be able to reimburse for carpet cleaning etc.
The foster home will in return provide a safe shelter for PAWS Ohio foster animals, make no exceptions as PAWS cats/kittens are to be kept indoors only during a foster assignment. The foster home will allow for an in-home check by PAWS Ohio leadership when 24-hour notice is given to observe the foster home environment. The foster home will also surrender any/all PAWS animals back to PAWS upon demand by any officer of PAWS. The foster home will also surrender any/all items that were lent to the foster home during their assignment upon demand.
The foster home is responsible for obtaining the adoption fee and a signed adoption contract. Both the contract, fully filled out and legible, and the monies must be sent to PAWS, P.O Box 24651 Cleveland, Ohio 44124 within two days of the adoption. Monies and a fully executed adoption contract must be completed before the foster animal can leave the foster home. Cats and kittens must leave the foster home in an approved cat carrier, not a box, not held in anyone’s arms, and not to be taken outdoors with a leash/harness. Adult dogs and puppies must be properly leashed with a collar before leaving their foster home.
In the event that the foster home (FOSTER) should want to adopt their foster pet or the foster pet of another foster home care giver, the foster family MUST inform their Foster Home Coordinator immediately, and arrangements will be made as to the adoption contract, and what the adoption fee will be. Foster homes are subjected to being screened for actual adoption of said animal(s) in accordance to rules/policies required by the Public Animal Welfare Society for permanent custody of a PAWS animal.
PAWS will revoke this agreement for cause, at any time, if deemed necessary by a PAWS officer and/or staff. By signing below, you acknowledge that you have read, and understand this agreement.
