    • What is REAP?

The Re-entry Action Plan (REAP) is a formal document that represents a scholar's commitment to honor the conditions of the Australia Awards Scholarships (see Scholarship Handbook section 4.2).  It is a mechanism that allows scholars to apply what they have learned in Australia to contribute to Philippine development through a meaningful project in an organisation or community.

      A. Relevance of the REAP Project

The REAP should clearly and succinctly explain how the delivery of its proposed output or outputs will improve the services or performance of the Host Organisation and ultimately contribute to the achievement of the goals set in the Philippine Government's Ambisyon Natin 2040, and the goals of the Australian Government in the Philippines.

Fill out the following sections after reading these required documents.

      REAP TITLE

      • What is the title of your REAP Project? For example: “An innovative valuation method for computing real estate taxes.”

      BACKGROUND INFORMATION

      • What problem or opportunity in the Host Organisation is your REAP hoping to address?
      • Cite specific examples, cases and/or reports to support your belief that this problem or opportunity really exists, is critical but not urgent.
      • You should articulate how this problem or opportunity is anchored on the situation of the Host Organisation.

The REAP targeting the problem or opportunity of the Host Organisation is aligned to the goals set in the Philippine Government's Ambisyon Natin 2040, and the goals of the Australian Government in the Philippines.

      OBJECTIVE

      • Objective must be SMART - Specific, measurable, attainable, result-oriented and time-bound.
Kindly indicate a single objective only, i.e. “To reduce the transaction time for obtaining a Business Permit in Pasig City from 20 to 5 working days.”
      • DO NOT indicate a compound objective, i.e. “To reduce the transaction time for obtaining a Business Permit in Municipality ABC from 20 to 5 working days and increase the number of applicants from 200 to 500 per day.”
      • How will your REAP Output benefit your Direct Beneficiaries? Sample: “ The valuation method and manual for computing real estate taxes that I will produce will help increase the assessment completion rate of the 25 real estate tax assessors of the Municipality of ABC from 10 to 20 assessments per month.”

IMPLEMENTABILITY OF THE REAP. The REAP should be fully implemented within two years from when a scholar returns from Australia. The applicant should clearly and succinctly explain how he/she will implement the REAP within the
required timeframe and budget. (TIP: The scale of your REAP should be within your circle of influence and control to ensure doability.)

your REAP activities and timeline into four (4) milestones: 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%.

    • C. Sustainability of REAP Project

The REAP Project should produce an output or outputs that will help Host Organisations improve their services or performance. These improvements, however, should continue beyond the implementation of the REAP Project. The REAP should therefore clearly articulate how these improvements will be sustained after the completion of the REAP Project. Experience of past successful applicants highlight the importance getting the full support of Host Organisations to institutionalise the REAP Project outputs.

      OUTPUT

      • What output or outputs will your REAP Project produce? How will these outputs be embedded in your Host Organisation?

      OUTCOME

Australia Awards Scholarships strongly encourages applications from people with disability who are otherwise eligible for a scholarship. Under the Disability Discrimination Act, Australian education institutions have to provide 'reasonable adjustments' to students with disability to assist access to study. To assess the likely support needs, appropriate assistance, and the capacity of relevant institutions to provide the assistance, awardees with a disability/special need must provide details of the disability and/or special need when they accept their offer. This information is bound by Australian privacy laws and will be disclosed only for the purpose of facilitating an accessible barrier-free learning environment.

Under Australian law, disability includes physical, intellectual, psychiatric, sensory, neurological, learning disabilities, physical disfigurement, and the presence in the body of disease-causing organisms (http://www.hreoc.gov.au/disability_rights/dda_guide/who/who.html)

Modifications to physical or learning environments, including additional educational supports such as sign interpreters and captioning, may be available depending on the relevant Institution's capacity. Australia Awards will advise the Institution of any special requirements associated with an Awardee so that the Institution can pass these details to the Institution’s Disability Liaison Officer prior to the Awardee arriving on-campus. Where an Institution is not able to provide the assistance requested, other Institutions may be recommended.

Once accepted, the Australia Awards Disability Support Advisor will assess the nature of the disability to determine the appropriate support to be provided.
