Juried Fine Arts Exhibition
ELIGIBILITY

The 2017 Artists of the Upstate Juried Exhibition is open to artists 18+ living within a 35-mile radius of Greenville, SC. Entries must be original works of art that have been completed within the last three years. Entries in all media categories will be accepted but should not exceed 40 pounds in weight or 60 inches in height or width. The exhibition is not judged in media categories.

All original works must be received ready for exhibition with appropriate hardware for wall hanging in place. Works on paper must be framed and under glass or plexiglass. We are unable to accept work that requires special instructions or installation by the artist. Works not adequately prepared for display will be withdrawn from the exhibition. The 2017 Artists of the Upstate Juror will serve as the final authority on eligibility.

ENTRY PROCEDURE

A non-refundable fee of $25 enables each artist to enter up to two works. Please submit one digital image per work to be juried. The deadline to apply is Friday, March 31, 2017.

ENTRY FORMAT
- Each image file must be in .jpg format and should not exceed 1 MB in size.
- Name each file as follows: EntryNumber.Title, eg., 01.Apples, 02.Pears
- All images must be correctly oriented.
ABOUT THE EVENT

The 2017 Artists of the Upstate Juried Exhibition is a local art exhibition presented by Artisphere (supported by a grant from the Metropolitan Arts Council). This juried exhibition seeks to recognize the outstanding quality and diversity of work being generated by artists of Upstate South Carolina. Entries in all medium categories will be considered
AWARDS

Four cash prizes will be distributed including;
- Best in Show ($1,000)
- 2nd Place ($750)
- 3rd Place ($500)
- Merit Award ($250).
*The 2017 Artists of the Upstate Best in Show award winner will be invited to exhibit work as the Featured Guest Artist at the Art Cellar during the Artisphere 2018 festival.

- Notification of acceptance emailed: Friday, April 14, 2017
- Drop-off of accepted work at The Founders Room/Larkin's On The River (318 S. Main Street, behind the Peace Center): Thursday, May 11, 2017 9am – noon
- Exhibition Dates: May 12 - 14, 2017 (Founders Room/Larkin's on the River)
- Opening Reception: Friday, May 12, 2017 6pm – 8pm
- Pick up accepted work at the Founder's Room/Larkin's on the River: Monday, May 15, 2017 9am - Noon
ABOUT THE JUROR / DENISE WOODWARD-DETRICH

Director of the Lee Gallery, Clemson University

Denise Woodward-Detrich is the Director of the Lee Gallery in the Department of Art at Clemson University. Before joining Clemson University as the director Ms. Woodward-Detrich served as a Master Instructor at the SC Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities teaching design, ceramics and professionals practice courses. She received her MFA in Ceramics at the New York College of Ceramics at Alfred University and her BFA from Wichita State University. She has maintained an active exhibitions record having been invited to participate in many national exhibitions. Ms. Woodward-Detrich has given workshops in North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Florida and has been included in publications such as Wheel Thrown Pottery by Don Davis, Best of Pottery, published by Rockport Publishers and Studio Potter magazine.
